Our History
30+ years in biotechnological research and development turning organic waste into biogas.
Our History
1993
WABIO’s journey begins when it is founded in Germany. Research & Development processes start immediately.
1994-1996
WABIO registers its first patent. Subsequently, WABIO designs and builds the first biological municipal waste disposal of the community, a pilot project for the sate of Bavaria in Germany. The 1MW electricity biogas plant still runs after at 99% yield.
WABIO then designs and builds a second pilot biogas plant for biological municipal solid community waste of a capacity of 0.6MW electricity.
1997
Construction of WABIO’s first own 1 MW electricity plant which is still in operation today.
2004-2007
WABIO develops a line of 20 plants for a public utility provider, and additionally builds the world’s first combined bioethanol and biogas refinery (4MW electricity) with straw and sugar waste, gaining know how and experiences on the way.
2010
WABIO expands into Asia, to tap into the emerging markets of the Sout-East Asia, China and India and meet growing demand for green energy.
2012
Designs the smallest biogas unit of 500MW biogas power plant.
2016
Retrofit for standard biogas plant to upgrade for the use of straw and lignocellulosic material. New biogas plant capacity is 4.5ME electricity.
2017
Constructs the world’s biggest biogas plant (30 MWth) utilising corn and rice straw waste only.
2019
Design a biogas to grid of a 4,8 MW electricity plant in Germany.
2021
Design, supervise build, and commission a 2,4 MW electricity plant using sugar mill waste and the waste of meat processing industry for animal food.
2022
Build the first 1MW electricity biogas plant from fermentation residue of an existing biogas plant in Northern Serbia.
